To contribute to a client’s well-being through the winter, Sun Youth join forces with Éconologis
By working directly with Hydro-Québec’s collection department and various heating oil companies Sun Youth can negotiate a personalized solution to a family who has fallen on hard times during the coldest time of year. Over 300,000 liters of heating oil have been distributed without charge to clients in need. These continuous donations are made possible due to a very valuable partnership with AQUIP (l’Association Québécoise des Indépendants du Pétrole) who works with Sun Youth to broker deal between oil companies and clients such as Joseph Élie, CST Canada Co. and Sonic La Coop.
Another way Sun Youth can contribute to a client’s well-being through the winter is through their partnership with Éconologis, which has set up a booth this fall at Sun Youth making it easier to approach and inform clients on improving energy efficiency and the level of comfort in lower income households. To improve efficiency, Éconologis agents offer advice on fine tuning usage of lighting, heating, hot water and household appliances. They can also visit people’s homes (following their landlords’ authorization) and install new electronic thermostats which will improve energy efficiency. Finally, the agents verify the level of humidity in the apartment to increase the indoor air quality. To be eligible to this program, one must receive a Hydro-Québec bill in one’s name and household revenue must be under the minimum income threshold. The phone number to find out if you are eligible to this program is 1-844-303-7333.
Éconologis’ representatives have met hundreds of people at Sun Youth’s headquarters last winter over 250 of people have shown interest in the program. Sun Youth is happy to host Éconologis again this year since both organizations share the same goal of helping people better their own situation.

For over two decades now Sun Youth has been helping low income families heat their homes through the cold winter months, with what is known as the Heating Assistance Program.
