Thanks to the TD Bank’s Volunteer Grant Program.
To be able to carry out its activities and help hundreds of people daily, Sun Youth heavily relies on volunteers. Brenda Bailey is one of these very generous and reliable volunteers. Since March 2015, she gently welcomes families needing food assistance at Sun Youth every Friday from 9am to 3pm. Mrs. Bailey is retired from the TD Bank where she worked for more than 38 years, devoting the last 25 years of her career as a commercial account manager.
It is through the TD Bank Volunteer Grant Program that Mrs. Bailey was encouraged to volunteer at Sun Youth for the first time. At the time, she was still working and helped prepare the food baskets at Christmas time. The TD Bank’s Volunteer Grant Program supports the volunteer efforts of its employees. It is available to both active employees and retired employees. Through this program, an employee that accumulates 40 hours of volunteering in an organization can apply for a $500 grant from the TD Bank for that organization. Thus, since March 2015, Mrs. Bailey applied twice for a TD Volunteer Grant and Sun Youth received two $500 grants on her behalf.
Mrs. Bailey is very proud of the initiative of the TD Bank. She is also very proud to be a volunteer at Sun Youth. Volunteering allows her to give back to the community, while creating great friendships with other volunteers, as well as with employees. She thinks that it is not only a benefit for the community, but also for herself. Both her volunteer experiences and her work at the TD Bank showed her the importance of the quality of the relationships we maintain with colleagues, volunteers and clients. Congratulations to the TD Bank for its program and a huge thank you to the employees who participate throughout their careers and who choose to pursue it in retirement. You make all the difference!
