30th Annual New Bike Giveaway at Sun Youth: 75 exceptional youths rewarded
There was a party atmosphere in the air at Sun Youth as we celebrated our anonymous donor’s 89th birthday. For 30 years, the Bike Man has celebrated this event by giving away bicycles to deserving children through Sun Youth Organization. This year was no exception as we rewarded 75 exceptional youths who are role models for their peers.
Since the beginning of the year, the Sun Youth Bike Committee has received hundreds of applications for the annual giveaway, many of which tell wonderful stories about amazing youths. The committee’s selection process was very arduous: from some 200 applications received, the names of 75 children have been selected and were rewarded with a new bike, a safety helmet and a bicycle lock.
What does the Bike Man want for his birthday this year? He would like us to introduce these exceptional Montreal youths and to reward them for their positive actions. This year’s “winners” presentation was held on Wednesday, June 4, 2014.
The 75 bicycles were engraved by our Bike Patrol through the Montreal Police “Projet numéro‘” initiative. We would like to thank the Café con Leche duo from Cirque du Monde Montréal for providing entertainment to the crowd before the ceremony. We also honoured Founder and General Director of the Robin des Bois restaurant Judy Servay with the Excellence Award. Thanks and congratulations to all!
