Milk and eggs, things we cannot do without!

Sun Youth’s food bank receives two very special donations from great partners.

Sun Youth has been lucky enough to receive two very special donations which will both be used to purchase milk and eggs for our food bank. The first was a donation from Félice Saulnier, pharmacist-owner of the Pharmaprix located at the corner of Mont-Royal Avenue and Boulevard Saint-Laurent.

The $3,589 were collected through Pharmaprix’s “LOVE YOU” National Campaign, an initiative to improve women’s health in our community. Representatives from Sun Youth had the great pleasure of visiting the Plateau Mont-Royal pharmacy to receive the profits from the campaign intended for Sun Youth. The second donation came from the former Commission des relations du travail (CRT) who raised $4,390. Over the last quarter of century, the Commission has proven to be one of Sun Youth’s most loyal donors, and its commitment continues to make a difference in the lives of the less fortunate in our community. On January 1st, the CRT was merged with the Commission des lesions professionnelles (CLP) to form the Tribunal administratif du travail (TAT).

At Sun Youth, we consider milk and eggs a necessity for our clients because we believe that they are the pillars for many basic recipes, not to mention the health benefits they can provide. Thanks to these generous donations, our food bank will be able to provide the essentials for our clients during the hard winter months. Sun Youth’s food bank ensures low-income families or individuals to have access to food as well as other essentials in times of emergency and or precarious situations. Food assistance includes emergency food baskets, monthly food supplement intended for vulnerable people (seniors) or those who have special needs (pregnant women, individuals with HIV and people eating kosher food), home deliveries and Christmas baskets.

Once again Sun Youth would like to thank Félice Saulnier and Pharmaprix’s “LOVE YOU” campaign as well as representatives of the Commission des Relations du Travail’s Social Committee for their generous donations to our Food Bank. IMG_1922-2.jpgCommission des relations du travail.jpg
