New clothing giveaway on August 11th and 12th.
Despite the heavy rain, about 800 families came to Sun Youth’s annual new clothing giveaway held last August 11th and 12th. Intended for low-income families residing in the Montreal area, this free distribution has become one of Sun Youth’s many traditions.
With the new school year, increased expenses impose additional hardship for needy families in Montreal. Many parents worry and deprive themselves to support their children. Keeping with the organization’s commitment to sharing and caring, this free clothing distribution in adult sizes was established for them some 15 years ago. This year, approximately 2,500 people found new clothes in their size. As always, first come were first served!
To benefit from this giveaway, eligible families and individuals had to show a proof of income, a proof of address and a proof of identity of each of the family members.
Such a charitable event could not have been possible without generous donations of clothing from the CWB Store, DIESEL Jeans and Équipe Spectra to whom Sun Youth expresses its sincere thanks. Sun Youth is also grateful to the company who donated energy efficient light bulbs.
