Six Straight Years of “En Harmonie 4 Kids”

Mountainside United Church organized a concert to raise funds for Sun Youth’s children’s programs.

For the sixth year in a row, Westmount’s Mountainside United Church organized a concert to raise funds for Sun Youth’s children’s programs. The show entitled “En Harmonie 4 Kids” was held on Saturday, April 22nd and brought together talented performers, adults and children, united to help kids in need.

Throughout the evening, the Mountainside United Church Choir, the Junior Chorale of the English Montreal School Board, the Montreal Chinese Children’s Choir, le Petit Choeur de Rosemère, the Montreal Intercultural Choir, The Con Brio ensemble of FACE School and the McGill Conservatory Children’s Choir offered a varied program of choral and orchestral arrangements to a captive audience. Kids helping kids is always a great story and often a rare occurrence, making this event all the more special. It teaches the children about other people realities, but it also teaches them they can do something about it by using their skills to raise money for the less fortunate in our society. The concert was a great success, generating over $8,000 in previous years, this year promises to have raised a similar amount. These funds are used by Sun Youth to assist families referred through various youth centers and will also help fund Sun Youth’s Bullying Prevention and Conflict Resolution program in schools. This program provides schools with social mentors who are working with the school staff in order to foster positive relationships between students and to develop extracurricular programs.

Sun Youth and Mountainside United Church would like to thank everyone who attended the concert, all the volunteers who gave their time to ensure the smooth running of the event and, most of all, the young and young at heart who preformed magnificently for the enjoyment of the crowd!
