The City of Montreal supports Sun Youth with a $975,000 contribution

Firmly committed to supporting our mission to help families and people living in poverty, the City of Montreal announced on December 15th $975,000 in funding that will help support the smooth running of the organization’s activities for the next three years. “With this exceptional financial support, we reaffirm our commitment to continue working alongside our long-standing ally to fight poverty”, said Josefina Blanco, responsible for diversity, social inclusion, homelessness, and universal accessibility on the Executive Committee of the City of Montreal. Mrs. Blanco was at our offices on December 15th with colleagues Maeva Vilain and Despina Sourias to help us distribute our Christmas baskets.

“Since 1967, the City of Montreal has been supporting Sun Youth in many ways. Today, in the name of our users, we wish to thank the City from the bottom of our hearts for this significant contribution. It will allow us to continue our mission of alleviating poverty and preventing exclusion. This funding, spread over three years, provides us with stability in our next actions”, said Johanne Saltarelli, Executive Director of Sun Youth.

“The partnership between Sun Youth and the City of Montreal was concluded by a handshake with Mayor Jean Drapeau in the 1960s. Never, in my wildest dreams, did I imagine that this partnership would result in such an important contribution. I am immensely proud and grateful to see our legacy continue to the benefit of all Montrealers in need,” said Sid Stevens, co-founder of Sun Youth.
