Sun Youth School Supplies Distribution

Sun Youth School Supplies Distribution

As September quickly approaches, many parents are left feeling uneasy about sending their kids back to school. Sun Youth would like to help ease low-income parents’ burden of paying for children’s school supplies. Every year, Sun Youth holds an annual Back to School distribution, where families can register to receive free school supplies, school bags and new clothes. Last year, 1,519 school bags were given to children throughout the month of August. This year, with over 8.5 million Canadians relying on the Canada Emergency Response Benefits (CERB) to support them during the pandemic, the demand for Sun Youth’s assistance is sure to be higher. Also, many people in Montreal did not qualify for support due to their precarious status in Canada. Those people almost always end up depending on support from organizations like Sun Youth. That is why Sun Youth is once again calling the public for their help: monetary donations or donations of new school supplies are needed to meet the demand of this unprecedented year.

During the height of the first wave of COVID-19, Sun Youth saw a major increase in demand for its services: it more than doubled its normal output and did all this by non-contact home deliveries.

Material donations of school supplies can be made at the organizations’ headquarters located at 6700, avenue du Parc,  #100. Monetary donations can be made directly on our website. A tax receipt will be issued automatically for donations above $20.
