Since its founding in 1954, Sun Youth has always benefited from the talent of committed and inspiring individuals. Co-founders Sid Stevens and Earl De La Perralle built a charitable organization with the help of valuable collaborators, each of whom contributed to its growth in their own unique way. Marina Boulos-Winton, Sun Youth’s Executive Director Designate will build on that legacy.
Many Sun Youth employees joined the organization in their youth, often through student jobs, thus beginning a journey centered on community involvement and service. Marina Boulos-Winton’s appointment comes as Johanne Saltarelli prepares to retire after 50 years of service with the organization. Like many of her colleagues, she started out with the organization as a camp counsellor. Ms. Saltarelli has been leading Sun Youth since 2019. This transition in executive leadership reflects a desire to propel the organization forward as it prepares for a pivotal milestone: the inauguration of its new building at the corner of St-Laurent Boulevard and Faillon Street.

Recognized for her ability to mobilize teams and deliver tangible results, Ms. Boulos-Winton has led numerous fundraising campaigns for essential causes. A deeply committed leader in the community and philanthropic sectors, she has over 30 years of experience in Canada and the United States.
Working with marginalised and vulnerable people has always been a source of energy and meaning for Marina Boulos-Winton. From the beginning of her career, she has been deeply committed to improving the living conditions of women and young people in precarious situations.
“I am honoured to join Sun Youth and to continue the work of Mr. Stevens and Mr. De La Perralle, Johanne and all those who have contributed to building this iconic Montreal organization. I am excited to use my experience to help Sun Youth to continue to provide quality services and make our city more inclusive. ”
— Marina Boulos-Winton, Chief Executive Officer-designate

In a context of growth and transformation, her appointment is a strategic response to the organization’s current and future needs. The aim is to strengthen operational stability, support service excellence, and accelerate the strategic development of Sun Youth.
It should be noted that Marina Boulos Winton will formally assume the role of Executive Director of the organization on January 5, 2026. Over the coming months, she will work closely with Ms. Saltarelli, who will remain in her position until the end of the year. Together, they will ensure a smooth and structured transition for the benefit of the organization’s employees, partners, and clients.
As an important chapter in Sun Youth’s history comes to an end with Johanne’s departure, we would like to thank her for her unwavering commitment to the organization for more than five decades. She leaves behind a vibrant organization eager to build on her legacy of impact. We approach the future with confidence and are convinced that Marina will, in turn, help Sun Youth fulfil and elevate its mission of maintaining the integrity of individuals while building a more inclusive city.
