Do you remember where you were at the beginning of January 1998? Sun Youth was there to help the many victims of the infamous Ice Storm by providing emergency assistance such as transportation and housing for reduced mobility individuals who had to leave their freezing apartments, groceries for those who had lost their food, and medication vouchers. Many of our mobile teams traveled to the most affected areas to meet with the victims, especially in the “black triangle”. Sun Youth’s participation is this operation lead to the organization filing a memoir with the Nicolet Commission, and the creation of the Regroupement des organismes humanitaire et communautaires en mesures d’urgence à Montréal (ROHCMUM) in 1999.
