Wayne Gretzky doesn’t need any introduction. Known as “the Great One”, he is considered the best hockey player of all times and holds many records that haven’t been beaten yet.
In 1988, Wayne Gretzky had just been traded to the Los Angeles Kings after spending many seasons with the Edmonton Oilers. While he was in Montreal for a game, Sun Youth used this opportunity to reward the Great One with the Bonne Entente Award for his fight against drug abuse among youngsters and for his participation in the Hockey Friendship program.
It was a magical moment for the Sun Youth youngsters present for the event which was held at the Sheraton Centre. Young Jimmy Vieira was happy to say that he wore number 99 with his peewee team and that he had scored 85 goals the previous season.
