Pearls can be found in the Clark Street Sun’s 35th edition of Friday, May 13, 1955, in which the young writers tell us about the misfortunes that occurred at Devonshire School on this accursed day. So here’s the joke of the week, a good example of 1950s humour: “A man was seen pushing through a group of women in a downtown street when the woman shouted, “Can’t you be a gentleman?” The man said: “Mom, I’ve been a gentleman for 4 hours and I didn’t get anywhere, now I’m going to act like a lady!”
