In September 2006, the rise in the number of violent crimes and the tragedy at Dawson College inspired us to create a special fund dedicated to crime victims, thanks to the generosity of the Montreal business community. The fund operates in addition to government programs that provide financial assistance to victims and their families.
HOW WE HELP
After a financial evaluation, a person registered in our program may be compensated for the following expenses: monthly rent, electricity, heating, medication, and bus pass. We also allow victims to use the services of our food bank as well as to receive free clothing and hygiene products. We also help victims rendered homeless to quickly find temporary housing.
To benefit from this program, victims of crimes or fraud must systematically be referred either by a police service or by a CLSC, hospital, IVAC or CAVAC.
