Material Assistance
We regularly receive from the public donations of dishware, bedding, small household appliances, such as microwave ovens, radios and other home items. These donations are distributed to disaster victims and to our low-income clientele to help them make a new start.
People needing free household goods must call Monday to Friday, from 9am to noon, at 514-842-1214 to make an appointment.
Good to know
The general public may purchase, for a minimal cost, second-hand books, music CDs and movies. Profits generated help finance our services.
School Supplies Distribution
For many parents, the “back to school” period is a difficult time of the year. The bill can be hard to swallow, especially for low-income families.
In order to help those families, Sun Youth holds an annual school supplies distribution in August. We also receive requests for help from various schools in Montreal all year round.
We offer a variety of essential supplies (backpacks, notebooks, pens, pencil cases, etc.) that we receive as donations, as well as brand-new material that we buy with donated money.
Here are three different ways in which you can help.
Make a donation
Each year, hundreds of kids are equipped for the new school year. For Sun Youth, taking care of families means contributing to a better future for their children.

Participation in the distribution is by appointment only. To make an appointment, please email services@jas-sy.org or call 514 842-1214.
You can walk or drive to pick up your items on the appointed date. (We do not make deliveries, except to people with reduced mobility or in exceptional situations).
We can only guarantee school supplies to the first 1000 children registered.
Eyeglasses
For the last several years, we have offered our low income clientele or those who are not covered by public or private insurance (newly arrived immigrants, new social assistance beneficiaries) the possibility of obtaining eyeglasses at a reduced price, or free of charge. This service is made possible thanks to the contribution of Essilor, a world renowned ophthalmic products laboratory, and of Philippe Rochette, optician.
Loan of a Bedwetting Alarm System
Together with Ledoux-Reflexe, we lend an apparatus to counter nocturnal bedwetting to low income families and individuals. Ledoux-Reflexe Co. suggests to its clients who no longer require their bedwetting treatment device to donate it to Sun Youth, thus allowing us to make the device available, free of charge, to families in need. The company offers follow up service to these families.
