Sun Youth’s first Bicycle Safety Test was held at the Devonshire School Parking Lot (corner of Bagg and Clark) in May, 1956. The campaign was arranged on the principle that young citizens should receive some form of public motivation to spur them on to safe driving habits. Here are a few pictures of the early years of the Safety Test. On the fourth one, held on May 21, 1960, honoured and celebrated guests were Montreal Mayor Sarto Fournier and Montreal Canadiens hockey icon Henri Richard.
